My Journey: Witnessing the Healing Voids

Convinced early that my calling was in healthcare, I joined the Army and started working in the medical field right out of high school. Working my way into and through the field of nursing on my way to medical school, I remained eager to make a difference in the national healthcare crisis.

However, as I worked within the system, I began to recognize a critical truth: Healthcare cannot be fixed strictly from the inside out.

Working as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Departments across the country—from community hospitals to trauma centers to VA Medical Care—I consistently observed two main gaps:

  1. The Implementation Gap: Patients receive a diagnosis but lack the tools and guidance needed to convert medical advice into real-world behavior change.

  2. The Caregiver Gap: Caring professionals want to help, but the system lacks the time and structure to do so effectively.

After nearly 20 years working in the healthcare system, I am still eager to make a difference. I have decided to shift my knowledge, experience, and skills to fill the gaps. Health in this country cannot improve until we change the demands we place on it.

The Solution = Human connection + Technological tools

I founded coLab Life because I believe technology, when personalized and human-centered, is the vehicle through which we can enable humanity to live better lives.
